Lady Knights sweep to victory

After three consecutive losses, Sunnyside Christian's volleyball team got back on the winning track Monday with a convincing 3-0 home non-league win over Liberty Christian.

"We played much better tonight," noted Coach Andrea Dobson.

The Lady Knights prevailed in game one 25-14, then battled to a 25-20 victory in the second. That set the stage for game three and the sweep, as SCHS hung on for a 25-17 win.

Dobson praised her team's service game, noting the Lady Knights missed just four serves the entire match.

Tori Van Wingerden paced the Lady Knights' attack with six aces and 25 assists. Jessica Schrotenboer also nailed six aces to go with 14 digs and six kills.

Courtney Rice (10 ace serves, 12 digs) and Andrea Schutt (14 kills, 10 digs) both recorded a double-double to spark SCHS.

The Lady Knights (4-6, 13-9) travel to Riverside Christian today, Tuesday, for the regular season finale.
