YAKIMA - Sunnyside Christian's volleyball team wrapped up its season Tuesday night with a 3-0 loss at Riverside Christian.
After losing the first game 25-14, SCHS put up its best fight in the second stanza in a 25-19 loss. Host Riverside Christian sealed the deal with a 25-14 game three victory.
"When we played within our offense we did really well," noted Coach Andrea Dobson. "We were in every point but Riverside played tough."
Chelsey Jones (12 kills, 14 digs) and Andrea Schutt (10 kills, 14 digs) both recorded double-doubles for the Lady Knights.
Tori Van Wingerden dished out 23 assists and Courtney Rice hustled for 10 digs to help pace SCHS.
The season-ending loss left the Lady Knights (4-7, 13-10) out of the playoffs by one game.
"This has been a great year for us," said Dobson. "We really improved our play and were competitive. The seniors did an outstanding job in keeping the team together. They were a joy to coach."
