Three cars stolen Saturday in Sunnyside

Thieves had their eyes on cars in the Sunnyside area this past Saturday, with at least three vehicles stolen.

A grey Suburban with green stripes on both sides was stolen from the 1700 block of Cascade Way in Sunnyside. It was reported missing at 5:52 a.m. on Oct. 22, having been parked at the residence overnight.

At 3:21 p.m. on the same day it was reported to police that a 1990 Chevrolet Lumina, license plate 186NVU, was taken from a residence in the 4000 block of Outlook Road.

A 1989 silver Nissan was taken within the 45 minutes prior to the 10:33 p.m. call police received from a residence in the 3200 block of Picard Place.

Theft of a fourth vehicle from a residence in the 700 block of S. 13th Street could not be confirmed.

A red Dodge pickup was broken into at Sunnyside High School Saturday evening, possibly in an unsuccessful theft attempt. That report came in at 9:33 p.m.

Someone attempted to steal the back bumper of a Chevrolet Tahoe parked in the 1400 block of Ida Belle Street. That report was received by Sunnyside police at 12:52 p.m. on Saturday.

Sunnyside police recovered a white Explorer, found abandoned at the Sunnyside Wal-Mart parking lot, that the Yakima Police Department had reported stolen from a Yakima resident.

In other police action on Saturday, mail was reported taken from a mailbox at a residence in the 400 block of Rouse Road; and a home in the 300 block of S. 7th Street was broken into and ransacked. That incident was reported at 9:57 p.m.
