PROSSER - Three Grandview residents required medical treatment following a two-vehicle collision that occurred Tuesday morning near Prosser.
A 1989 Plymouth Laser, driven by 17-year-old Ezquiel Martinez-Perez of Grandview, struck a Ford Series 9000 dump truck head-on at about 8:30 a.m. yesterday at the intersection of Hanks and Hinzerling roads. The driver and two passengers in the Plymouth, 19-year-old Froylan Martinez-Perez and 20-year-old Epifanio Juarez-Nasari, all of Grandview, each sustained injuries in the wreck.
Juarez-Nasari, sitting in the right rear seat of the sedan, suffered internal injuries and was transported to Kadlec Medical Center in Richland. The two other occupants of the Plymouth were treated for their injuries at Prosser Memorial Hospital.
The driver of the dump truck, according to the Benton County Sheriff's Office, was Arvid E. Kelley, 63, of Prosser. Sheriff's deputies report Kelley avoided injury.
Sheriff's deputies said Kelley was westbound on Hanks Road and was attempting to turn left onto Hinzerling Road. The Plymouth Laser, eastbound on Hanks Road, struck the dump truck head-on in the intersection.
The intersection, according to deputies, is a pass-through, meaning there is no stop sign for either westbound or eastbound traffic on Hanks Road.
