GOLDENDALE - The Mabton High School volleyball team won its match at the District Championship, beating Lyle 3 games to zero Thursday night.
"I feel really good about the way (we) played," Mabton Coach Olivia Mendoza said of her team.
The Lady Vikes led for most of the match on their way to a 25-16, 25-13, 25-22 victory.
"We started out good and played well together," Mendoza said.
Myra Diaz led the Lady Vikes with 6 aces. She also added 7 kills and 1 block. Alida Mendoza had 10 kills, 2 aces and 1 block while Josie Chase added 13 assists, 4 kills and 2 aces.
Mabton next plays Riverside Christian Saturday morning in Goldendale. Mabton has lost twice to Riverside this year but the Lady Vikes are up to the challenge and are excited for the chance to play them again.
"We did well the second time we played them, losing in four," Mendoza said. "I think we can take them if we play our game. That's the key," she added.
