Zorada Ann Cohu, 93, of Grandview, went peacefully into the arms of her heavenly Father Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2005, at Prosser Memorial Hospital.

She was born Aug. 2, 1912 to LeRoy William and Freda Wiliford (Chambers) Peebles in Diamond, Mo. She spent her early years and received her education in Missouri. On July 27, 1930 she married W. M. (Merle) Cohu in Clayton, N.M. Following their marriage they made their home in Iowa and Missouri. In 1934 the Cohus moved to Yakima and in 1944 made their home in Grandview.

Zorada enjoyed flower arranging and taking care of her family and friends. She was a very active member of the Valley Life Baptist Church, teaching Sunday school until she was 89 years old, as the W.M.U. director and Acteens leader.

She is survived by four sons, Merle D. Cohu and wife, Dorothy, of Grandview, Torchey Cohu and wife, Sharon, of Sunnyside, Tandy Cohu and wife, Diane, of Sheridan, Ore. and Fred Cohu and wife, Samantha, of Benton City; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Merle Cohu, Sr., three sisters, Nettie Peebles, Trudy Bartley and Mary Gonzales; and two brothers, Jim Peebles and Lee Peebles.

Viewing and visitation will be held Friday, Sept. 2, 2005, from 1 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005, from 9 to 9:30 a.m. at Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside. Graveside services will be held Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005, at 10 a.m. at the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens, Sunnyside.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Valley Life Baptist Church, 609 W. Bonnieview Rd., Grandview.
