OUTLOOK - The tiny community of Outlook became a very exciting place Thursday evening, as reports of a bear sighting kept area residents on their toes.
The Washington State Patrol this morning (Friday) confirmed that a number of calls had been received Thursday reporting a bear in the area west of the Outlook church.
Washington State Patrol officials reported that several Department of Fish and Wildlife officers were dispatched to Outlook, and had reported seeing the bear.
Chantile Hutchinson, who works at Outlook Elementary School, said she spotted the bear Thursday evening as it tried to run from one Price Road corn field to another.
Hutchinson said her husband estimated the bear, which appeared to be a black bear, to weigh somewhere in the area of 350 pounds. She added that Fish and Wildlife officers told her that they will be out searching for the animal again today.
