JOSEPH MONDRAGON, SR.

Joseph Mondragon, Sr., 95, of Imlay City, Mich. passed away Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2005, at Fisher Convalescent Center in Mayville, Mich.

Joe was born on Dec. 19, 1909 to Cecilio and Maria (Vidaurri) Mondragon in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Joe received his education in San Antonio, Texas and was an auto mechanic for many years.

In 1953, Joe moved to Imlay City, Mich., where he worked as a cement mason until he retired in 1986.

Joe was an active member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Imlay City, Mich. He enjoyed riding his bike across town, taking care of his cat “Mamas” and doing arts and crafts.

Joe was married and widowed three times. His wives were Esther Burns Mondragon of Imlay City, Mich., Mary Mondragon Whitaker of Granger and Felipa Mondragon of San Antonio.

He is survived by five sons and two daughters, Joe Mondragon, Jr. and wife, Mary, of Sunnyside, Ruben Mondragon of Pasco, Richard Mondragon of Tacoma, Dora Mondragon (Albert) of Coalinga, Calif. and Becky Torres (Jose) of Twin Falls, Idaho; eight children from his marriage to Felipa Mondragon, Jose and Gilbert Mondragon of Chicago, Ill.; numerous grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Henry; sisters, Eva and Ofelia; son, George Mondragon; stepson, Guadalupe Ibarra; wives, Esther, Mary and Felipa Mondragon.

Our sincere thanks go out to Patsy Shelton, caregiver from Pontiac, Mich., the staff from Fisher Convalescent Center in Mayville, Heartland Hospice and Dr. Ferreira of Caro, Mich.

Avram Funeral Home in Mayville is in charge of arrangements. A mass will be offered for the repose of his soul Thursday, Sept. 8, 2005, at 7 p.m. at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside.
