Sunnyside City Council Briefs

Ricks votes against consent agenda

Sunnyside City Councilman Bruce Ricks cast the lone vote this past Monday night against approving the consent agenda.

Ricks didn't vocalize his objection, but in the past has always voted against consent agenda items with liquor license renewal requests listed.

Among the items on the consent agenda were four liquor license renewal requests. The first request approved by Council was for the AM/PM Mini Market, 1850 Waneta Road. Council also approved liquor license renewal requests from the Golden Coin Restaurant, 509 East Edison; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3482; and Forum, 1818 Morgan Road.

Other items on the consent agenda included approving the minutes of the regular meeting of Monday, Aug. 8, and a list of vouchers. Council approved voucher payments in the amount of $515,777. The public may view the vouchers at the city finance department.

SEDA update on Sept. 26 agenda

The Sunnyside City Council is expected to hear a report from Councilman Jim Restucci at the Monday, Sept. 26, meeting.

Restucci said he would provide Council with a report of the board meeting of the Sunnyside Economic Development Association (SEDA). Restucci represents Council on the SEDA board.

Council is also scheduled on Sept. 26 to address closing out of a Community Development Block Grant for a Port of Sunnyside project and the consideration of a franchise renewal agreement with Pacific Power.
