PROSSER - While Bickleton didn't have enough cross country runners to collect a varsity team score, Bickleton Coach Darrell Lang was pleased with his small team of runners who competed at the Prosser Invitational held last Saturday at Fiker Stadium.
Competing as a junior varsity team, the Bickleton boys cross country runners collected 171 team points for a ninth place finish. Helping the squad to collect team points was Bickleton eighth grader Junior Hernandez. He finished in sixth place among the JV runners with a time of 18:24.09, said Lang.
"He did better than some of our more seasoned runners," Lang said of the speedy eighth grader.
The Pirates next fastest runner was Cody Loomis, who finished in 26th place among the 30 JV runners. Loomis, a sophomore, crossed the finish line in a time of 20:01.45.
In the order of their finishes, Bickleton's Tyler Jensen completed the course with a time of 22:06.61, followed by Orion Yoesle, who claimed a time of 22:26.2, James Rasmussen with a time of 24:13.32 and Jared Spalding with a time of 25:24.88.
Bickleton High School's sole Lady Pirate competing in Saturday's event was freshman Danielle Raschko, who gave a good showing with a time of 23:39.68.
