KIONA-BENTON - Anna George recorded a hat trick in the first half to spark Grandview to a 7-0 soccer win at Kiona-Benton on Tuesday.
"It was nice to see the kids put into practice the things they've been learning," Coach Anne Holden said. "They were able to control their spacing and put the ball in the net."
The CWAC contest against the short-handed Bears was all but over early on as Grandview tallied three goals in the first 16 minutes of play.
Ai Tomizawa kicked things off for the Lady Grizzlies with a score in the seventh minute off an assist from George.
Still only a sophomore, George scored in the 12th and 16th minutes off assists from Cris Meza and Ana Tinta, respectively.
Meza, who assisted on three goals, found the net to make it 4-0 at the 25-minute mark off an assist from Tomizawa.
George wrapped up scoring in the first half with a goal in the 31st minute, assisted by Olivia Macias.
Leading Ki-Be 5-0 at halftime, Holden substituted freely in the second half and played all her reserves.
Tomizawa scored in the 55th minute with Meza breaking clear for the assist.
Assisted by Meza, George topped off her hat trick with a goal in the 65th minute to close out scoring for the match.
"We talk all the time about finishing our scoring opportunities and taking advantage of those chances," Holden said. "Hopefully this game will give them a sense they can do that."
Grandview (1-3, 1-4) is home this Saturday to take on 3A Selah at 1 p.m.
