A Sunnyside woman was injured this past Tuesday night, Sept. 20, while being robbed after attending a church meeting.
Leaving the Presbyterian Church at 737 S. 16th Street at about 9:45 p.m. Tuesday, Ruth Ganser, 71, was knocked to the ground by a youth or young adult who stole her purse.
"He might have been older, but he was definitely a young man," Ganser recalled.
Though no bones were broken, Ganser was injured as a result of the fall. "I'm going back to the doctor today," she said Thursday morning. "I'm still sore and there's a lot of bruising."
The suspect, described as stocky and wearing dark clothing, was last seen running westbound on Grant Street.
In the aftermath of Tuesday night's robbery, Sunnyside police say they have two individuals in custody for attempting to use at least one of the credit cards stolen from Ganser's purse.
In addition, police have a suspect in mind, or "person of interest," connected to the actual robbery.
