Granger man injured in

train collision

GRANGER - A 20-year-old Granger man sustained injuries when his automobile was struck by a train last Friday morning.

Washington State Patrol troopers report that Jose M. Gutierrez Mancilla required hospitalization after his 1988 Jaguar XJ-6 was struck by a westbound train at the SR-223 and South Track Road crossing, near Granger.

WSP troopers said Mancilla failed to stop at the railroad crossing, despite the crossing arms being lowered to warn of an oncoming train. Friday's accident occurred at about 8:10 a.m.
