Ronald “Ron” W. Linehan, 55, of Banks, Ore. died Friday evening, Sept. 23, 2005, at his home.

He was born on Sept. 18, 1950 in Yakima to William and Margaret (McFadden) Linehan. He received his primary education in Sunnyside, graduating from Sunnyside High School in 1968. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Idaho and a Master’s degree from Lewis and Clark College.

He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Moore on Dec. 20, 1981 at the Moore farm near Banks. He was head football coach, a history teacher and a PE instructor at Sunset High School in Beaverton from 1977 to 1993, and then was a head football coach and PE instructor at Westview High School in Hillsboro from 1994 to 2000. In 2001 he retired as an educator but helped coach the Banks High School football program for two years.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; his three sons, Joshua Linehan of Corvallis, Ore., Cole Linehan of Eugene, Ore. and Gabriel Linehan of Banks; his mother, Margaret Linehan of Sunnyside; six siblings and their spouses, Rick and Janice Linehan of Benton City, Kelly and Timmi Linehan of Chelan, Scott and Kristen Linehan of Miami, Fla., Patti and Paul Hart of Sunnyside, Ginny and Joe Herber of Sunnyside, and Terri and Bill Beck, of Boise, Idaho; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Linehan.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005, at 2 p.m. at Kelly Stadium, Banks High School, 450 S. Main in Banks, with Jon Moore officiating.

A reception will follow the service at the Linehan residence.
