Smasne takes first in football contest

David Smasne of Grandview beat out Billy Van Wingerden of Sunnyside for first place honors in the third week of the Sunnyside Merchants Football Contest. Smasne will receive $50 with Van Wingerden garnering a three-month subscription to the newspaper.

Both Smasne and Van Wingerden only missed one game. The tie-breaker tipped the win in Smasne's favor.

For the record, the LSU/Tennessee game was thrown out due to the fact it was a Monday game. This was not realized when the games were announced in the newspaper.

With no one calling all 12 games correctly the bonus money goes to $40 this week.

Enter and answer all the games correctly and you could win $90 cash.

Entries must be received at the Daily Sun News office at 600 S. 6th St. by 5 p.m. on Friday to qualify for the contest.
