GRANDVIEW – Congressman Doc Hastings (R-Pasco) will be the guest speaker at the Grandview Chamber of Commerce’s Tuesday, April 11, meeting.

I-82 construction to delay traffic

UNION GAP – I-82 between Union Gap and Yakima is restricted to one lane in each direction today (April 4), and on Wednesday, April 5, that stretch of freeway will be restricted to one lane for westbound traffic.

Thursday, April 6, weather permitting, all four interchange ramps in that area will be closed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. while construction crews prepare to widen the ramps. Travelers are asked to choose an alternate route to and from SR-24 and I-82 during these times.

“The challenge of improving the on and off ramps from SR-24 to I-82, near Nob Hill Boulevard, is to accomplish the work without causing major traffic delays,” said Don Whitehouse of the state transportation department.

Kuney Construction Company is trying to meet the challenge by working on major elements of the ramp reconstruction at night to minimize traffic delays.
