County to improve a portion of Edison Road
Yakima County commissioners on Tuesday agreed to improve a
portion of Edison Road about four or five miles outside of Sunnyside, including
a stretch from Bethany Road to the end of the road.
The commissioners' decision directs county staff to acquire
rights-of-way, as well as prepare plans specifications and an estimate of the
cost to improve that portion of Edison.
As part of the decision, commissioners authorized staff to
have access to $100,000 for rights-of-way acquisition.
Yakima Valley Highway project complete
A $462,573 overlay project to improve Yakima Valley Highway
from Durham Road to the Granger city limits was approved as complete by county
commissioners on Tuesday. The project included work on resurfacing the section
of road, as well as pouring new asphalt.
Tree trimming contract awarded
Blue Sky Tree Service of Tieton submitted the winning bid of
$25,054 to provide tree trimming in Yakima County.
County commissioners awarded the contract yesterday. County
Engineer Gary Ekstedt said the tree trimming service would focus on tree limbs
and branches hanging over county roads.
