GABRIEL ZAMORA SR

GABRIEL ZAMORA SR.

Gabriel Zamora Sr., 79, of Mabton passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2006, at Yakima Regional Hospital.

He was born April 2, 1927 in General Teran, N.L., Mexico to Jose and Donisia (Torres) Zamora. On Oct. 8, 1959 he married Maria (Lucy) Hinojosa in Prosser. Gabriel worked in the Lower Valley for many years in farm labor.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, helping others and working on his farm. Gabriel attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mabton.

He is survived by his wife, Maria (Lucy) Zamora of Mabton; and two daughters, Blanca Cruz of Granger and Elena Martinez and husband, Juan Jose, of Santa Ana, Calif.; five sons, Raul Zamora and wife, Christie, of Davis, Calif., Rogelio Zamora of Mabton, Gabriel Zamora and wife, Misty, of Sunnyside, Joe Zamora and wife, Lenore, of Sunnyside, and Gus Zamora of Mabton; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Mercedes Marquez of Mexico and Flora Estella Garza and husband, Agustin, of Texas; and two brothers, Amel Zamora of Texas and Abelardo Zamora of Wilder, Idaho.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and one son, Rolando Zamora.

Viewing and visitation will be held Sunday, April 9, 2006, from 2 to 8 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 6 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, April 10, 2006, at 11 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Mabton.

Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

RICHARD MCMURRIN

Richard “Dick” McMurrin, 74, of Puyallup passed away Monday, April 3, 2006.

Dick was born on May 27, 1931 in Brush, Colo., 1 of 13 children.

He worked at Pacific Intermountain Express (P.I.E.) for 35 years.

Dick was a long-time member of Teamsters Local 741, retiring in 1984.

He enjoyed camping, woodworking, square dancing, gardening and rebuilding antique tractors and engines. His favorite time was spent with friends and his large family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Bernice; and five children, David, Debbie English, Becky Denison, Donald and Keith; and a sister, Lois Stickley. Dick was blessed with 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He will be greatly missed.

Viewing will be held Thursday, April 6, 2006, from 6 to 8 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. at Powers Sumner Funeral Home, 15124 Main St., Sumner. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, April 7, 2006, at 1 p.m. at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Sumner.

Burial will be held at Sumner City Cemetery. Arrangements by Powers Sumner Funeral Home, 863-6332.
