GRANDVIEW – The City of Grandview will host a city-wide clean-up April 17-21.

Local residents are being asked to place their unwanted items near their garbage cans. A public works crew will pick up those items on the day of the resident’s regular garbage pick-up.

A fee will be added to each resident’s utility bill for appliances, hazardous items such as car parts, paint, aerosols, poisons and flammable liquids, as well as car and truck tires.

Yakima woman dies in rollover

ZILLAH – Maribel R. Fombona, 25, of Yakima was pronounced dead at the scene of a one-vehicle rollover accident near Zillah Monday morning.

Washington State Patrol troopers report that Fombona was westbound on I-82 at about 7:30 a.m. yesterday when her 1991 Toyota Tercel drifted off the roadway into the median. The vehicle rolled, ejecting the woman. Troopers believe she fell asleep while behind the wheel of her four-wheel drive SUV.
