An armed robbery took place yesterday (April 11) at the Subway Store #4468 at 2810 Yakima Valley Highway in Sunnyside.
Sunnyside police were dispatched to the scene at 8:21 p.m. The Subway clerk told officers a gun had been displayed and money taken by a heavy-set, older, Hispanic man wearing a blue hat, white tee shirt, a hooded blue or black sweatshirt and blue jeans. He was last seen going towards the China King Buffet. It was estimated that he is in his late 40s or early 50s.
"The description by the officer said he has short, black hair and is clean shaven," said Detective Jeff Cunningham, adding that officers have no leads other than his description.
Cunningham declined to reveal the amount of money taken.
Police were also investigating a burglary yesterday, reported at 10:31 p.m. by a resident in the 900 block of Barnes Court. Again, no details were yet available.
From 8:23 a.m. yesterday to 7:36 a.m. today (Wednesday) officers investigated four alarms, three animal problems, one assault, one abuse of a controlled substance, two reports of harassment, one juvenile problem, one report of loud music, one missing person, one 911 hang-up call, one runaway juvenile, one report of shots fired, one suspicious person, one threat and four traffic problems.
They also served one arrest warrant and one court order, gave two assists to agencies and responded to three informational calls.
