YAKIMA - The Grandview golf team tied for second-place during yesterday's five-team CWAC South golf match at Suntides in Yakima.
Othello was first with a combined score of 296, followed by Grandview and host Naches, which tied with an identical score of 362.
"It's very unusual to have a tie," said Coach Dave Uggetti.
East Valley and Toppenish rounded out the competition.
Othello's Bart Patitucci, a state champ two years ago, paced the field by carding a two-over 72.
Leading Grandview was Andrew Michels with a 77. He was followed by teammates David Trevino (94), Spencer Lewis (95), Aaron Riggs (96), Kyle Womack (100) and Chad Larson (112).
Uggetti said windy conditions impacted play. He added that the greens had recently been sanded, making for an even more challenging course.
The finish gave Grandview a 3-2 league record. The Greyhounds return to the links next Tuesday at Toppenish.
