Relay for Life organizers seek cancer victims for fun and games

GRANDVIEW - As the organizers continue to make plans for a two-day Relay for Life in Grandview in May, they have decided to set up a special camp ground for those who have been engaged in the battle with cancer.

"We are looking for team members for the Team Cancervive, which will consist of members who either have or have had cancer," said Dawn Fitzgerald.

"Ken Ruppert has agreed to be the team captain, but we need team mates. There is no cost and we don't them to have to do a thing but enjoy themselves," said Fitzgerald.

The team members will be free to walk around the track, enjoy the music, chat, visit the other camp sites, taste test the goodies sold on the grounds or just sit in the shade.

Fitzgerald said the Cancervive Team's camp site will be set up and taken down by volunteers and the business, Yellow Rose, which is loaning plants and decorations for the camp site.

The Relay for Life begins at noon on Saturday, May 20, and continues through noon on Sunday, but Cancervive team members are not expected to stay the entire time, unless members want to.

Any one who would like to volunteer to be on the Cancervive team may contact Cindy Rattray at 509-837-7498 or e-mail Fitzgerald at
