Pump up those tires, put on your helmet and get ready to roll in the three-city bike ride this Saturday at 10 a.m.
Sign-up will be at 9 a.m. at Sunnyside Grand Cinemas, Grandview's Palacios Park or Prosser's Best Western Inn at Horse Heaven.
To be eligible to participate, riders must provide their own bikes-either borrowed or owned-and children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, who must sign a permission slip.
At the three registration sites, bicycles will be inspected and riders will be instructed in basic bicycle safety rules, including hand signals.
The course will cover the bicycle path between the cities and end at The Dairy Fair's parking lot in Sunnyside.
A free, Darigold ice cream cone will be awarded to everyone who registers for the ride.
A bicycle rodeo will get underway at the parking lot, and all ages are invited to compete in skill and agility drills. Families are encouraged to attend.
Fun activities for participants will be provided by the Sunnyside fire and police departments, Reserves, AmeriCorps, Parent Information Resource Center and the Sunnyside Police Explorers.
The explorers will provide Safe-Card ID Kits to parents, which provides vital information that could help if a child is missing or injured. As part of the kit, children will be photographed and fingerprinted. A hair sample to provide DNA will also be taken.
