BENTON CITY - It was a clean sweep for the Grandview tennis teams yesterday in CWAC South action at Kiona-Benton.
The boys battled for a 3-2 team win over the host Bears. Kevin Floyd got the 'Hounds on the winning track with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Michael Lala in No. 1 singles play.
Chase Lindsley of Grandview followed with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Mark Crawford.
But Ki-Be tied the match at 2-2 with victories in both the No. 1 and 2 doubles contests.
First, the Bears' duo of Spencer Hayter and Evan Beus prevailed 6-4, 6-3 over Joey and Marco Diaz. Then, Ki-Be's Indy Lytton and Jeff Stewart defeated Robert Madrigal and Nick Saldana 6-3, 7-5.
That led to the decisive No. 3 doubles match, in which Grandview's Paulino and Rodrigo Fajardo rallied for a 5-7, 6-3, 6-2 victory.
The win improved Grandview's boys to 9-1 in league and 10-2 overall.
In girls competition, Grandview left little doubt as to the outcome with a 5-0 sweep over their Ki-Be counterparts.
Miranda Shreeve cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win over Ki-Be's Julie Souriyavongsa in No. 1 singles play. Grandview teammate Sydney Mottice followed with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Amanda Foss.
In doubles play, Allison Grow and Danika Martinez got things started with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Leilani Wight and Kyrie Bradshaw in No. 1 doubles play.
Christine Penwell and Noelle Miller won the No. 2 doubles match for the Lady Greyhounds, 6-4, 6-2 over Hannah Norman and Megan Hirschi.
Adriana Valdez and Lily Yoon wrapped up the match with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Ki-Be's Merci Valdez and Haley McDaniel.
The Lady Greyhounds improved to 4-6 in league and 5-7 overall with the win.
Grandview's tennis teams return to action tomorrow (Thursday) when they travel to play Lower County rival Sunnyside.
