Diener, Goins second place finishers at pro-am

WALLA WALLA - Both, Robbie Goins and Tom Diener earned second place finishes at this past Monday's pro-am tournament sponsored by the Central Washington chapter of the PGA.

Goins and Diener were both playing for Sunnyside's Black Rock Creek Golf Course team. The Monday, April 24, tourney was staged at the Walla Walla Country Club.

Goins carded the second lowest round of all the amateurs, shooting an even-par 72. Only Jesse Vanschoiack of Meadow Springs Country Club bested him, shooting a 1-under-par 71.

Diener was the second place finisher among amateur division #2 golfers, in the net scoring column. He shot a net score of 71 (actual score minus handicap).

Also placing for the Black Rock Creek team was club pro Jeff Bender. He fired an even-par 72 to finish third in the professional division. Ed Paine of Leavenworth Golf Course and Von Smith of Bear Mt. Ranch tied for low professional honors with 2-under-par 70's.
