A Grandview man was stabbed to death last night (Thursday) and his girlfriend was admitted to Sunnyside Community Hospital with numerous stab wounds.
The victim of the fatal stabbing was Kevin David Underwood, 44. Lee Ann Ferson, 36, of Grandview was the second victim.
A 53-year old Hispanic male, formerly of Grandview but now residing in Whitstran, was arrested as a suspect, according to Stew Graham, Chief Detective for the Yakima Sheriff's office, who declined to name the man.
According to Graham, the sheriff's office was notified at 10 p.m. last night that a stabbing had taken place at a residence in the 2800 block of Olmstead Road in Grandview.
Graham said, after investigating, officers learned the suspect had been dropped off at the Olmstead Road location to confront an ex-girlfriend and her current boyfriend. Graham said Underwood was fatally stabbed after a brief argument. He said Ferson ran to a nearby home for help, was pursued there by the suspect and was stabbed numerous times.
"The suspect then fled from the residence. A witness observed the suspect get into a car and was able to provide a description of the car to law enforcement," said Graham.
The car was stopped a few minutes later in the City of Grandview by Grandview police officers.
"The suspect was taken into custody without incident," Graham reported.
Ferson is listed in stable condition at the Sunnyside hospital.
The suspect will make a preliminary appearance in Yakima County Superior Court on murder and attempted murder charges today, April 28. As of 10:15 this morning, the Yakima County Prosecutor's office had no information available on his arrest.
