Nozaka top golfer at Senior Tour event

PASCO - Akira Nozaka led the 32-man contingent from Sunnyside's Black Rock Creek Golf Course at a Senior Tour event staged at Pasco's Sun Willows Golf Course.

Nozaka carded a 2-over-par 74 to post the low round from among the Black Rock Creek competitors. He also picked up $36 in prize money with the best shot of all the competitors on the 16th KP hole.

The Black Rock Creek team is currently in third place in the nine-team Senior Tour standings, with 8 points. The Walla Walla Veterans Golf Course team is atop the standings with 10 points.

In addition to Nozaka shooting a sub-80 round at Sun Willows, Black Rock Creek's Gene McIntire, Terry Mathews and Keith Ward achieved that feat, as well, with scores of 77, 77 and 79, respectively.

The lowest net round (actual score minus handicap) recorded by a Black Rock Creek golfer was Dennis Petrea's 62.
