Justin Jose Melendez, 23, of Sunnyside passed away Saturday, Aug. 5, 2006, in Sunnyside.

He was born March 29, 1983 in Yakima to Jose and Yolanda Melendez. Justin received his early education and was raised in Sunnyside.

He enjoyed music, cruising, playing video games and collecting baseball cards.

He is survived by his parents, Jose and Yolanda Melendez of Sunnyside; his brother, Mathew James Melendez of Sunnyside and half-brother, Jason Melendez of Everett; his half-sister, Raquel Ruff of Tennessee; his grandfather, Daniel B. Rodriguez of Sunnyside; his aunts and uncles, Mr. and Mrs. Diego Burgueno, Mr. and Mrs. Manuel Rodriguez, Mr. and Mrs. Ermenijildo Rodriguez Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Abdon Valdez, Mr. Roberto Rodriguez, Mr. Ruben O. Rodriguez, Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Castro, Mr. David O. Rodriguez, Mr. and Mrs. Juan Daniel Rodriguez, Mrs. Sylvia Rodriguez, Mr. Victor Manuel Melendez-Torres and Mr. and Mrs. Jesus Napoles; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; and friends.

Viewing and visitation will be held Thursday, Aug. 10, 2006, from 2 to 8 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 6 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Aug. 11, 2006, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside, with burial to follow at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside. Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
