One arrested following July armed robbery attempt

On July 22, five masked people armed with guns entered a Sunnyside home in the 200 block of North 13th Street just after midnight, demanding money. This past Thursday, Aug. 10, Yakima police officers arrested one of the suspects, Elizia Davila, 20, in Yakima where she resides.

Davila was charged with first degree robbery, making her preliminary appearance this past Friday in Yakima County Superior Court on the felony charge.

Her arrest by Yakima police was made initially on an outstanding warrant not related to the July 22 incident.

Sunnyside police officers Guillen and Chumley responded to the 12:18 a.m. call four minutes after it came in on July 22, but the five masked people were gone when they arrived.

Officers were given the name of one of the intruders, an unmasked woman who gained entry to the home because she was known by the residents. During the robbery attempt the armed and masked intruders demanded money, which they were told repeatedly was not in the home, and held guns to the heads of the residents before they gave up and left, taking a satellite receiver and a digital video recorder.

At that time, Det. Sgt. Jeff Cunningham said they had leads that were being followed up. To date, only the one suspect has been detained.

"The investigation is still continuing," said Cunningham.
