Pacific power offers low income bill assistance

Families who rely on Pacific Power as their main heat source vendor and have difficulties paying for heating during the winter months may be eligible for the Low-Income Bill Assistance Program (LIBA).

The LIBA is funded through Pacific Power and helps qualifying families receive a reduction in their Pacific Power rates.

The rate reduction is based on income eligibility. The reduction can last for six up to months, from Nov. 1 to April 30. For more information contact Northwest Community Actoin Center at (509) 865-7630.

If you are not a Pacific Power customer and your main heat source is Cascade Natural Gas, wood, oil, propane or Benton REA you may call (509) 865-7630 for an appointment for Energy Assistance, beginning Wednesday Nov. 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.; 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The service areas include Grandview, Granger, Mabton, Outlook and Sunnyside.

Once all appointments have been filled, a waiting list will be developed. The waiting list will document the date and time at which a person has called in. The rate reduction is on a first come, first served basis.
