SVID sails through audit

For the 11th consecutive year the Sunnyside Valley Irrigation District was given a clean bill of financial health by state auditors.

In a summary released last week from an audit conducted in March 2006, auditors evaluated SVID's bookkeeping related to account receivables, cash receipts, payroll, purchases and financial statement preparation.

The audit's results showed that SVID "complied with state laws and regulations". In addition, the state found that SVID's internal financial controls "were adequate to safeguard public assets".

Granger schools receive passing grade from auditor

The state auditor's office found that the Granger School District's financial records complied with state laws and the district's own financial policies, according to a report issued last week.

The school district, which received its fourth consecutive audit with no negative findings, was formerly audited every two years.

State auditor officials noted, however, that an annual audit became necessary since Granger schools spent more than $500,000 in federal funds during the 2004-05 fiscal year.
