Filling the boot for muscular dystrophy

An astonishing $2,730 was raised by Sunnyside Professional Firefighters Local 3542, which held its annual Fill the Boot drive to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association on Aug. 25 at 8 a.m.

Sunnyside firefighters, volunteer firefighters, Sunnyside Christian Junior and Senior High School students, family members and volunteers from the Muscular Dystrophy Association gathered at the intersection of Seventh and Edison, asking drivers to donate their loose change to help fill the boot for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Josh Roe president of the Sunnyside Professional Firefighters Local 3542 said, "All of the money raised will help local children affected by Muscular Dystrophy. It will provide them with a week-long camp, medical supplies and other necessities that make their lives a little easier and a whole lot happier."
