Thanksgiving dinner draws

lots of support

Thank you goes to everyone who participated in the annual Thanksgiving dinner at the Sunnyside Community Center, which was sponsored by Churchill Media and the Sunnyside Lions Club.

The city of Sunnyside employees stepped up to provide 13 cooked turkeys, trustees set up tables and chairs as well as the tear-down afterwards, and we are so proud of them.

I would like to take this opportunity to send a special thank you to Melba and Ray Fujiura, Martha Conradt, Julia Hart, Cristina Klatovsky, Janie Sabedra, Beverly Duncan, Delbert Stone, Jan and Bruce Epps, Deleesa and Jim Restucci, DeAnn and Ron Hochhalter, Susan and Don Clift, Juan Uribe, Joan Niemeyer, Sandra Medrano, Jim Ortiz, Jeff Cunningham, John Chumley, Phil Schenck, Aaron Markham, as well as help from Andrew Gutierrez and Charlotte Hinderlider and the trustees.

Once again, thank you to everyone who participated and gave your time to the community. We hope to see even more people next year.

Blast from past

Thanks for the story on Bill De La Paz. I grew up in Sunnyside and now read the Daily Sun News on line.

My father and Bill were friends and my sisters and I went to school with the De La Paz girls. My dad is Bill Wornell, who worked at Valley Hay and then retired and lived in Sunnyside until his death in 1986.

It was a terrific Thanksgiving treat to be able to read about a friend from long ago. Thanks again for the blast from the past!

Christmas lights

On behalf of Sunnyside’s Lighted Farm Implement Parade Committee and the Sunnyside Chamber of Commerce, we would like to thank Jesse Hernandez, Heather Mulroney, Jim Scott, Ernie Barrela, Brian Campbell, Erica Garza and Michelle Oaks of Waddell & Reed with the help of Jim Warren and Josh Baggerly of the Electric Shop, for putting the lights up in Centennial Square.

It looks fantastic!

Community involvement like that is what makes this a great city.

Thanks again.

Goal exceeded

Thank you Daily Sun News for putting the ad in the paper for hats. It was awesome because we went past our goal of collecting 1,000 hats. Altogether, we collected 1,514 hats.

These hats will be donated to Ronald McDonald House, St. Judes Children Hospital, Virginia Mason and Northstar Lodge.

Thank you.
