Peter James Mikkelsen, 67, of Mabton passed away Nov. 29, 2006, at his home.

He was born Oct. 25, 1939 in New York City, New York to James Peter and Alice Elizabeth (Mac Farland) Mikkelsen.

He received his education in Los Angeles, Calif. Following his education, Pete played baseball in the minor league, while also serving in the Marine Corps for two years. Pete’s major league career started in 1964 with the Yankees, where he pitched in the 1964 World Series. In 1973 he finished his career with the Dodgers and went on to farm in Prosser.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing. Pete will be remembered by all for his generosity, kindness and willingness to help anyone.

He is survived by his mother, Alice Mikkelsen of Prosser; his companion of seven years, Barbara Breeze of Mabton; her son, James Breeze and wife, Jill, and their family; and numerous friends that Pete considered family.

Pete was preceded in death by his father, James P. Mikkelsen.

At Pete’s request there will be no formal funeral services. Those wishing to honor his memory may contribute to the American Cancer Society. Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside is in charge of arrangements.
