GRANDVIEW - Construction of a mall in Grandview is slated to begin within the next month.
According to developer Paul Nefer, plans for the mall have been in the works for quite some time, but the project met with a few delays.
The mall, which will be constructed by Sunnyside's Mountain States Construction, will be located right next to Les Schwab Tire Company on Wine Country Road.
"We looked around Grandview and there were no real decent size strip centers, nothing else like we were planning on doing," said Nefer. "We thought there was a need for it (in Grandview)."
The mall will be 9,000 square feet and Nefer said there will be six suites of about 1,500 square feet each. But, Nefer says, "Suites can be modified a little bit on a first come, first serve basis."
Nefer's pleased with the location because it's directly off of the freeway on Wine Country Road.
Nefer said that he and his partners are currently actively seeking tenants. Already, three or four potential tenants have shown interest, but nothing's official yet. "We hope to have half or more lined up within the next two or three months," he said.
In addition to retail tenants, Nefer is willing to lease space for professional offices as well.
Construction at the mall should be completed by early summer, he said.
