Alleged kidnapper's trial date re-scheduled

Following a status hearing this past Wednesday in Yakima County Superior Court, the trial date for an alleged kidnapper has been re-scheduled.

Pedro Ochoa-Mendoza's trial date has been moved to Monday, Dec. 18.

Ochoa-Mendoza, of Sunnyside, is charged with attempted first degree kidnapping, indecent liberties and first degree robbery with a deadly weapon following an incident in October 2005.

Also accused in the incident is Heriberto Martinez, also of Sunnyside. Martinez is charged with first degree kidnapping, first degree robbery with a deadly weapon and attempted first degree kidnapping. Martinez's trial date is slated for Feb. 20, 2007.

The two men are accused of kidnapping a 58-year-old woman while she was jogging in the Scenic Drive area of Yakima. After hearing about that event, a 16-year-old girl came forward to report an attempted kidnapping in the same area.
