The Sunnyside Chamber of Commerce will honor 10 outstanding people in the community at a March 11 awards banquet and auction. Organizers are still open to nominations in the 10 categories.
Those who would like to nominate a deserving co-worker, neighbor or friend from Sunnyside, Outlook, Mabton or Bickleton for the following categories are invited to contact the chamber at 509-837-5939 or toll-free 1-800-457-8089 or stop by to pick up a nomination form.
The categories are Outstanding senior citizen (65+), agri-business person, business person, health care person, public official/employee, educator, youth, volunteer and community beautification, plus a new category this year, Outstanding New Business (since January 2005).
The awards to the winners in these categories will be presented at the March 11 event, which will include a no-host social and silent auction at 5 p.m., followed by a buffet dinner at 6:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Gymnasium, 907 South 6th Street, Sunnyside.
Tickets, at a cost of $25 per person, will go on sale Monday, Feb. 13, at the Sunnyside Chamber of Commerce's new office at 230 East Edison Avenue. For more information, phone the chamber at the above numbers.
