Five thefts, burglary occur

Five thefts and a burglary were reported to Sunnyside police in the past four days.

The burglary was reported yesterday (Monday) at 7:28 a.m. by Independent Food Processors at 1525 South 4th Street, where someone kicked in a door to one items.

The thefts and their locations, dates and times include:

Feb. 17

-A basket filled with food was taken from Food Pavilion, reported at 5:01 p.m.

-Unknown items taken from a vehicle in the 500 block of South 10th Street, window of vehicle broken to gain entry, reported at 5:13 p.m.

-Jewelry was stolen from JC Penney Co., reported at 5:16 p.m.

-A blue Ford, license number 242TSH, was taken from the parking lot at Sunnyside High School.

Feb. 20

-A Quest card was taken from a residence in the 1100 block of East North Avenue and $300 was withdrawn, reported at 10:15 a.m.

In other police activity from 8 a.m. Friday to 8 a.m. today (Feb. 21), officers investigated 12 traffic problems, 15 reports of suspicious people, 10 animal problems, three harassment problems, seven cases of vandalism, 11 alarms, four fights, three juvenile problems, eight 911 hang-up calls, one report of shots fired, four incidents of disorderly conduct, three alcohol offenses, four reports of loud music, four reports of runaway juveniles, one abandoned vehicle, two incidents involving controlled substances, one trespassing, one assault, one forgery, one violation of a no-contact order, two storm-related problems, two civil problems and one missing person, who was found. They also investigated report of a fire on the roof of Bob's Auto Clinic, but it proved not to be a fire.

They also attempted to locate a runaway juvenile, provided one extra patrol, gave assistance to 10 people, served 13 arrest warrants, and provided a funeral escort.
