Food bank drive

The Lower Yakima Valley Associationof Realtors holiday food bank drive was a tremendous success this year. The realty offices of DK Bain Real Estate, Prudential Valley Investment Properties, RE/MAX First Advantage, Timmermans Real Estate, Kimbrough & Associates, Juarez Realty, Chapman Lampson Real Estate and Moore & Mellor Realty all participated.

More than 5,000 lbs. of food goods were raised and delivered to the food banks of the four surrounding communities over the Christmas holiday.

On behalf of the Realtor Association and members, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to the following businesses that donated to this effort: Grandview Herald, Farm Credit Services/Sunnyside, Twin City Foods, WM Bolthouse Farms Inc, Welch Foods Inc. and Wal-Mart DC 7021.

Support noted

As my term as city councilman officially ended Monday, Jan. 9, I would like to thank the people of Sunnyside for their support over the last eight years.

I would also like to thank all of the voters who voted for me in the last election. A special thank you to my wife, my family and my close friends for their continued support. I would not have been able to serve without their help.

I am proud to call Sunnyside my home. We have a great city with great people who donate their time and talents for the betterment of the city.

We have many issues facing the city at this time. I would urge all of you to call a city councilman and express your feelings. The job of a councilman is not easy, but is very rewarding. Community members, get behind the current council and give them the support they need. Let's take Sunnyside to the next level!

/s/ Mike Farmer, Sunnyside
