Felipe M. Suarez, 80, of Sunnyside passed away Friday, Jan. 20, 2006, in Yakima.

Felipe was born May 1, 1925 in Brownsville, Texas. He came to the Valley in 1950. He married Connie Saldana in 1952 in New Mexico. He worked as a farm laborer and did tractor work. He worked on the railroad for a time. He also had his own farm, where he raised asparagus.

He enjoyed fishing and being with his family.

Felipe is survived by his wife, Connie Suarez of Sunnyside; two sons, Ricardo Suarez of Oregon and Felipe Suarez Jr. of Sunnyside; a daughter, Velma Suarez of Sunnyside; five sisters, Candida Gomes of Brownsville, Texas, Angela Abrego of Texas, Trinidad Garcia of Texas, Guadalupe Farias of Sunnyside and Maria Bernarda Vancize of Texas; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son; a grandchild; five brothers; and two sisters.

Recitation of the Rosary will be recited Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006, at 6 p.m. at Valley Hills Funeral Home Chapel, Sunnyside. Services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006, 10 a.m. at Valley Hills Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the direction of Valley Hills Funeral Home, Sunnyside.
