ROBERT J. ORSO
Robert J. Orso, 74, of Grandview died Monday, Jan. 16,
2006, at his home.
He was born Jan. 19, 1931 to Jim and Emma (Peretti) Orso.
He graduated from Cle Elum High School. He entered the U.S. Navy and served in
the Korean Conflict. After being discharged he attended Central Washington
University and graduated with a Master’s degree in education. He worked 30
years as an elementary school teacher at Arthur H. Smith School in Grandview.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jeanette (Fera)
Orso; a sister, Rose (Joe) Andreotti of Yakima; two daughters, Rebecca
Orso-Kirkland of Cle Elum and Susie (Peter) Pawlicki of Shoreline; and four
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A family gathering is planned in the spring instead of a
formal service. Those wishing to honor his memory may contribute to the CWU
Alumni Association at 400 E. University Way, Ellensburg, WA 98926 or Arthur H.
Smith School Reading Program, 205 Fir Ave., Grandview, WA. 98930. Smith Funeral
Home is in charge of arrangements.
LUZ MARIA TAPIA
Luz Maria Tapia, 32, of Mabelvale, Ark. and a long-time
Mabton resident died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2006, at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.
She was born Aug. 4, 1973 in Coalcoman, Michoacan, Mexico
to Fidel Cervantez Ortega and Carolina (Rodriguez) Ortega. In 1979 she with her
family moved to Washington. She graduated from Mabton High School with the
class of 1992. On Oct. 11, 1994 she married Raymundo Tapia in Sunnyside. For
the past seven years they have lived in Arkansas.
She is survived by her husband, Raymundo Tapia; her
children, Maria Victoria Tapia, Raymundo Tapia Jr. and Jesus Tapia, all of
Mabelvale; her parents, Fidel and Carolina Ortega; and her siblings, Concepcion
Ortega of Wenatchee, Martha Lopez and husband, Almicar, of Baton Rouge, La.,
Olga Parkillur and husband, Vijay, of Sunnyside, Jesus Ortega and wife, Letty,
of Sunnyside, Jose Ortega of Sunnyside, Juan Ortega, Abel Ortega, Rosa Ortega,
Primitivo Ortega, Cristina Ortega and Antonio Ortega, all of Mabton.
Viewing and visitation will be held Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006,
from 4 to 8 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 6 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home,
Sunnyside. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006, at
10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Mabton, with burial to follow
at Mabton Cemetery. Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
