Heart attack causes Grandview man's fatal accident

GRANDVIEW - An 88-year-old Grandview man died of an apparent heart attack Wednesday morning before veering off the road and colliding with a power pole in the 200 block of Old Inland Empire, Grandview police said.

Lyle Folden was traveling eastbound on Old Inland Empire when his vehicle left the roadway to the south and impacted a power pole, shearing it off at the bottom.

The power pole hung, suspended from wires, the police department said.

Folden's pickup then re-crossed the roadway before coming to rest on railroad tracks several feet north of Old Inland Empire.

The collision interrupted power in part of the city and Pacific Power crews worked to restore it in a timely fashion.

A spokesman for Pacific Power said about 300 customers were affected in Grandview, but power was restored for all but one customer by 10:30 a.m. because a transformer was damaged, but service was restored to all customers by about 5 p.m.
