Hospice to host 11th annual "An Intimate Red Wine and Chocolate Affair"

PROSSER - Lower Valley Hospice and Palliative Care will once again host "An Intimate Red Wine and Chocolate Affair" from 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18, at the Prosser Community Center, located at 106 Merlot Drive in Prosser.

Lower Valley residents are invited to go and taste red wine from renowned Yakima Valley wineries and indulge their sweet tooth as they pair wine selections with milk, dark, bittersweet and white chocolate treats from local confectioners.

An "Ultimate Chocolate Judgment" will again be held at the beginning of this year's event. The entrees will be judged by a panel of chocolate connoisseurs, with a $150 cash prize awarded to the "Judges Award" winner. The entrees will also be judged by the event's attendees, and the "People's Choice" winner will also be awarded a cash prize of $150. The opportunity exists to win both cash prizes, $300, if the dessert is judged the best by both the judges and the attendees! For rules of the contest and entry forms, please contact Lower Valley Hospice and Palliative Care at 509-837-1676.

Event attendees will be enveloped in a warm, welcoming setting, including live harp music and charming decor. Special room packages are available through Best Western, The Inn at Horse Heaven by calling 509-786-7090.

Hospice officials said local residents are invited to enjoy the chocolates and wine while they support the very important mission of Lower Valley Hospice and Palliative Care.

With proceeds to benefit Lower Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, tickets to the event are $20 per person, or $35 per couple. Tickets may be purchased at: Prosser Chamber of Commerce, located at 1230 Bennett Avenue in Prosser; Lower Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, located at 3920 Outlook Road in Sunnyside; or by calling 509-837-1676.
