Fire destroys Grandview home

GRANDVIEW - Fire destroyed a Grandview family's home this past Sunday morning according to a report from Yakima County Fire District No. 5.

Firefighters responded to an alarm at 3:09 a.m. on Sunday to find a single family residence with heavy flames throughout the house and attic.

The family was not home at the time.

It took 21 firefighters nearly three hours to get the blaze under control. The building and its contents were a total loss, fire district officals reported.

The fire district has estimated damage to be about $100,000. The cause of the blaze is still unknown and under investigation.

The family contacted the fire district about 10 hours after the blaze was controlled, and the Red Cross was contacted to help the seven members of the family whose house was destroyed.

Investigation of the fire has been turned over to the Yakima County Fire Protection Bureau. No further information was available this morning.
