Port of Sunnyside buys land near airport

In a two-minute meeting yesterday, Monday, Port of Sunnyside commissioners approved the purchase of two acres at the east end of the Sunnyside Airport.

The Port will pay a total of $26,327.38 to purchase the property from landowner Don Padelford.

The triangular piece of property is situated on Sheller Road and, for the time being, will be used as farm land, noted Port Manager Amber Hansen.

Eventually the two acres will provide a straight boundary line when the airport expands into other lands now owned by the port, Hansen said.

Port commissioners are scheduled to next meet on Monday, Feb. 6, at 7 p.m.
