Grandview City Council awards bids

GRANDVIEW - The Grandview City Council voted to award a bid to replace one of the city's older garbage trucks. The city will buy a 2007 garbage truck from Peterbuilt, Inc. for $203,816.32 after taxes.

The truck has an automated side-loader on it and a 30-yard dump body. The truck should be delivered in October.

The council also awarded a bid for the city's well no.13 drilling, casing and testing project to Schneider Equipment, Inc., of St. Paul, Ore.

The project is separated into two phases with a budget of $590,000. Phase one consists of the drillings and casing improvements and phase two is for the well house reconstruction.

The bid award for phase one is $344,999.46, which is 15 percent higher than the city's estimate of $299,638.30.

Councilman McLean resigns

GRANDVIEW - The Grandview City Council accepted the resignation of council member Rick McLean at Monday night's council meeting.

In McLean's resignation letter, he said he had enjoyed working with the council on the many projects and policies the council has implemented in the past. Noting his work obligations are taking him out of town more often, it has been difficult for him to fulfill his duties to the council.

The city will be taking applications until the end of the month. All interested applicants must pick up an application at city hall and submit this with a letter of interest and a resume, addressed to the mayor.

All applicants must be registered to vote and have lived in the Grandview city limits for one year. The qualified applicant will serve on the council's position number two seat until November 2007, when the next election will take place.
