MABTON - Mabton Community Days begins this Friday, June 9, at Feezell Park and continues through Saturday evening. There will be live music, including Blaze from Hot 99.7 FM. Pony rides, bingo, great food and raffles are just some of the events that will take place throughout the weekend.
Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. will kick off Mabton's weekend of fun in the sun with karaoke and DJ Blaze.
The Miss Mabton Pageant will be held Friday night at Artz-Fox Elementary School.
Those early risers out there will be glad to know that the Fireman's Breakfast is at the fire station and starts at 6 a.m. Saturday morning and goes until 10:30 a.m. for the those who have never seen a sunrise by choice.
The parade is Saturday at 11 a.m. and has a new route this year. The line-up starts on Third Street between North and Washington streets. The parade will begin on Washington Street, then travel east to Sixth, where it will turn right onto "B" Street, taking a left onto Main Street and finally take a right onto North Street where the parade began.
After the parade Miss Mabton will be welcomed into the community at Feezell Park 12:30 p.m. The Mabton Vikettes and Li'l Vikettes will then perform at the park, followed by the Charro dancing horses. The Grandview High School Mariachi Band will follow that. Next, the event the crowd looks forward to the most, Pie in Your Face, with Mabton Mayor Velva Herrera and Chief of Police Raul Almeida will be staged.
Next up will be a martial arts exhibition followed by the Miss Mabton raffle at 4 p.m.
Mrs. Roettger's class will then entertain the crowd with a performance. The Mabton Explorers raffle will follow.
After a dinner break, the exotic Troupe De Soleil Belly Dancers will take the stage at the park to put everyone into an envious trance. Saturday night will end with karaoke from 7 to 9 p.m.
