Sun Valley 13-year-olds still looking for first win

RICHLAND - A see-saw 6-6 ball game yesterday went wrong for the Sun Valley 13-year-old Babe Ruth baseball team, which surrendered 13 runs in the fourth inning to lose 20-9 in five innings at Richland.

The Sunnyside club scored five of its runs in the third inning to take a temporary 6-2 lead. Hopes of a first win dimmed, though, when Richland answered with four in its half of the third to tie the score.

That set the stage for the fourth, when errors and a lack of pitching control led to Richland's big rally.

The loss spoiled an effective "small ball" game by Sun Valley, in which the team stole 12 bases to make the most of Richland's miscues.

Marcos Yanez, Angel Aguilar and Alan Loera all recorded a pair of steals for Sun Valley.

Now 0-8, Sun Valley hosts Pasco here at 5:30 p.m. today.
