G'view man arrested twice on drug charges

GRANDVIEW - Grandview police got a little more than they bargained for yesterday when they arrested Abel Chacon in response to charges from a Yakima County warrant on possession of marijuana.

Chacon, 20, was brought into the Grandview police station at about 12:30 p.m. Thursday and, while searching him, Grandview police said they found a pot pipe in his pocket, said Seth Bailey, a Grandview police detective.

That led to a second arrest on charges of possessing drug paraphernalia

Chacon is currently in the Grandview jail, where he was expected to be arraigned today on the drug paraphernalia charge.

At a later date, he will be moved to Yakima County jail to face the marijuana possession charge still pending there.

Altogether, Grandview police responded to 29 calls between 9:02 a.m. yesterday and 1:23 a.m. today.

Other incidents Grandview police responded to yesterday included:

-A report of graffiti on a fence in the 500 block of Stassen Way.

-The theft of a lawn mower, valued at $350, from the 1000 block of W. King Street.

-Graffiti painted on a fence in the 100 block of Ash Street, causing $250 in damage.
