Ricardo R. Castilleja, 46, a former Sunnyside resident now of San Antonio, Texas passed away Monday, June 26, 2006 after a long, hard fought battle with cancer.

Rick was born May 26, 1960 in Topeka, Kan. He graduated from John Jay High School in 1978, and received his BA in interdisciplinary studies from the University of the Incarnate Word in 2004.

Rick is survived by his wife, Vickie; three stepchildren, Erika Gilbreath, Mike Covert and Michael Albert; two grandchildren, Morgan Gilbreath and Joshua Balderas; his parents, Rafael Castilleja CMSGT. USAF Ret., and Jenny Castilleja. He is also survived by five siblings, Rudy, Rodney, Ralph, Anthony and Jennifer; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and relatives of Sunnyside and a host of friends.

Visitation will be held Thursday, June 29, 2006, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South in San Antonio, Texas. Burial services will be held Friday, June 30, 2006, at 10 a.m. at Mission Burial Park South with a memorial service to follow at 11 a.m. at Epworth United Methodist Church. Mission Park Funeral Chapels and Cemeteries, San Antonio is in charge of arrangements.
